The business was started by Don Moore’s father, Jim Moore in the 1950’s and his legacy continues to thrive today under Don’s 36 years of experience building various water craft. Don’s lifelong passion for the outdoors started early. On his seventh birthday his father gave him a kayak which he had made. It was 12’ long, canvas covered and painted blue. Don loved to lie in it close to shore and watch the minnows swimming through the seaweed. Now he is the owner of both BoatCraft and Waters Dancing Boat Kit Company, which builds and designs boat kits to make it possible for anyone to experience the deep fulfillment and satisfaction of building their own boat and experiencing wilderness travel. Waters Dancing has put together everything you will need to create a world-class craft.
BoatCraft and Waters Dancing are now in their fifth decade of helping the home boat builder realize their dream of building their own craft. They offer advice on many different repair projects. They have helped supply people with products and information to do their own boat repair project, whether their boats are wood or fiberglass. From epoxy to plywood and hard to find parts, BoatCraft supplies quality products and designs and assembles easy-to-build kits that have been shipped as far as Osaka, Japan, Italy, Norway and more.
Don Moore attributes his family’s success to hard work and “keeping at it”. Padgett Business Services have played a role in the growth and success of BoatCraft and Waters Dancing. After their accountant passed away, Don heard about Padgett from another business in their complex. It made sense to out source their year end and their taxes to someone knowledgeable who they could trust. Don has been a Padgett client now since 2002. The best piece of advice they received from Padgett was to start taking a salary. When he was a boy, Don’s grandfather drummed into him the belief that whatever he did should be done well; well enough that he would be proud to put his name on it. Don is confident that while he is busy designing, prototyping, re-designing, building, manual writing, producing, and tooling to bring his boat kits to market, Padgett Business Services is diligently taking care of the numbers, giving Don the freedom to focus on what he does best- building and designing boats.
